Overview

2015 OUTDOOR SEASON

Please contact the Director of Coaching at coaching@actonsoccer.org if you are interested in coaching an all-star team for this season.

SPECIAL NOTES regarding ALLSTAR Teams:
- Coaches and Team Officials must be approuved according to club policies. Please contact the Director 
    of Coaching for specific information.
- There is a set per player fee to be on an Allstar team that is in addition to the Houseleague fee. 
   The fee is the same for each player assigned to the team regardless of whether they attend every
   practice, game or tournament.
- Player books and paperwork is required for each player and team official assigned to the team. 
  They must be prepared and submitted according to our Club, District and OSA regulations. There are 
  specific deadlines and minimum player numbers per team in order for the team to be registered.
  Please contact the Club Registrar for specific information.
- Each team is responsible for completing required documentation, meeting specific deadlines and 
  paying for various additional costs including but not limited to: On-line Application to Travel forms,
  Tournament forms & fees, permits for Exhibition games, referees, playing out requests etc.

Allstar teams do not Fundraise. An All-star team is a team made up of players from a number of recreational teams in that specific outdoor season, for the purpose of tournament play. It is not intended to be a stable team.  These teams do not practice or stay together beyond the current season.

The Acton Soccer Club will not have Select and Rep teams for this season.


ACTON VILLA PAST YEARS' COMPETITIVE OVERVIEW


Our Competitive Teams play in South Region Soccer League. Follow the link for league information including Schedules.

There is also a District Development League run by PHSA which is taking over the functions of the now-defunct Select League, PHSSL. The Development League is intended as precisely that - development of highly skilled players in preparation for full competition at older ages.

The difference between competitive and recreational soccer is driven by the intensity of the experience. In order to enjoy the challenges of Competitive soccer - also known as "Rep" in hockey terminology - the coaches need to know that the players are the ones who are able and willing to deal with the extra challenges of higher calibre play.

Going into it, parents also need to understand that the costs involved are higher than with the recreational program (which is known as "house-league" in hockey language). The matches are spread over a greater distance, and teams expect to attend a number of tournaments each year. The coach can provide a budget for expected cost.

All-star is a team made up of players from a number of recreational teams, for the purpose of tournament play. It is not intended to be a stable team.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A COMPETITIVE TEAM IN THE 2015 OUTDOOR SEASON you must contact the Director of Coaching before September 18 2014. After this date, there will be other forms to complete and we expect to make final decisions on all teams on around September 30th. COACHES are NOT permitted to hold tryouts until they have been granted the privilege of a team.

Note that a coaching application form must be received and a coaching appointment approved BEFORE tryouts can take place for a team.
