Mens League (ICRSSL)

Acton Soccer Club does not register players on adult mens or womens teams. We support those teams by assisting them in booking fields, etc. There are two mens teams - Acton Villa and S C United - and both teams play in the Inter County Recreational Senior Soccer League  - you can read all about the league by following the link.

Last year, Acton's SC United was a winner - and here is a summary written by a Special Correspondent.

SCUnited which plays here in Acton Wednesday evenings at 8:45pm through the outdoor season participates in the Inter County Recreational Senior Soccer League.  2011 was our third season and we started off well winning our first game which was played away in Brampton.  We then plodded along losing some close contests until tying the revamped Acton Villa midseason from that point we won and lost several more close contests.  We managed to finish out of the cellar for the first time.  Then the playoffs came along.  First game we outclassed the Flying Dutchmen by 4 to 1.  Then was a short staffed Acton Villa who we dispatched 5 to 0.  Next to fall by the wayside were the Milton Stingers who we outplayed and sent packing by a 4 to 2 score.  3 straight wins and bam we are in the playoff semi-final against the Meteor II team.  This was a hotly contested match that finished in 2-2 draw, which required penalty shots, our 3 shooters all scored and our goalie Boris Brajkovic stopped their first and third penalty shots.  Amazingly before we could rush the net to pile on and celebrate, Kabaam the lights blackout the whole field!  Game, set, match, we move on to the Final.  Our opponent was the Blazers of Georgetown.  This match was physical and loaded with emotion and lots of cards doled out by the referee.  Blazers were awarded a penalty 10 minutes in, they scored and went up 1-0.  Hard work and stingy defending kept us in it until Blazers fouled one of our players and a penalty was awarded with 10 minutes left, John Maimonis stepped up and coolly slot it home to tie the match.  Then with only a couple minutes left Ollie Bernal went on a mazy run through the midfield and unleashed a howitzer from 20 meters out into the top corner of the old onion bag, which left the Blazer defenders and keeper dumbstruck and their hopes dashed.  Time ran out and the SCUnited claimed its first championship.
